8th International SFPE Conference on Performance-Based Codes and Fire Safety Design a Huge Success

The SFPE 8th International Conference on Performance-Based Codes and Fire Safety Design Methods was a great success. We had representatives from 30 nations and a record attendance with 307 participants. Special thanks for our hosts in Lund who were so welcoming. The students in Lund prepared the following section of their website that that has more pictures from this event; http://www.brand.lth.se/sfpe2010/live/.

We hope to see you in 2012 in Seoul, South Korea for our 9th International Conference. In the mean time stay tuned to http://www.sfpe.org/ this fall for a number of exciting changes to our website.

Actions on Proposed Modifications to the SFPE Standard Calculating Fire Exposure to Structures Available for Review and Comment

The Standards Making Committee's action on proposed modifications that were submitted on the "SFPE Standard on Calculating Fire Exposures to Structures" are available for review and comment. Comments are due June 30, 2010.

The scope of the standard that the committee is developing is as follows: "This standard provides methodologies to predict thermal boundary conditions for fully-developed fires to a structure over time. Information developed using this standard will provide input to thermal response and structural response calculations conducted as part of an engineered structural fire resistance design."

Comments must relate to an action that was taken by the standards making committee on a proposed modification. The areas that were the subject of one or more proposed modifications are highlighted within the draft. See http://www.sfpe.org/Technical/Committees/FireExposures.aspx for more
information.
